To Know Him

Not all believing leads to a genuine relationship with Jesus and the eternal life that comes from knowing Him. In the above scripture, Jesus knew the people following Him were impressed by the works He was doing. They believed He was from God because the signs and wonders were truly supernatural. But Jesus also knew that in spite of their belief in Him, they had no desire to know Him personally.

They were drawn to Him by what He could do, but they had no intention to look deeper, to find someone they could trust, love and fully surrender their lives to. They were taken by Him because of the signs and wonders He performed – but He didn’t have their hearts. In other words, they followed Him for what they could see; but if Jesus were to challenge them to give their lives and hearts in obedience to Him, they would turn away from Him as quickly as they came to Him. Without our willingness to surrender every area of our lives to Jesus, for the joy of knowing Him intimately, we will never receive the eternal life He offers us.

He entrusts Himself fully, without restraint or hesitation to those whose hearts are after Him. These are lives that willingly receive His refining truth and transforming grace, and as a result get to live in the atmosphere of Heaven here on earth. Is there really anything you’re holding on to more valuable than fully knowing Jesus and the life He has for you? Surrender everything to Him today and you will never turn back for want or regret.
