Covenant Purpose

God reveals His covenant plans to His children, and shows them their own part in them. God told Abraham He would bless and multiply him, and lead him to a land He would show him. God called Jeremiah to be a prophet. He would lead him and put His words in his mouth.  Samson’s mother was to raise her child as a Nazirite, and never cut his hair. He would be used by God to deliver Israel from the 40year captivity of the Philistines. For us, who have been grafted into Christ, 1 Peter 2:9-10 declares that we are, “a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession”.  Acts 17:28 says, “…in Him we live and move and have our being;…  For we are also His offspring.” We are not puppets at the mercy of a master puppeteer.  We are given a free will to surrender our lives to the Lord, to know Him, and work together with Him completing a purpose that is far greater than we could accomplish independent of Him. God is not in the business of hiding His plans from us. He wants us to know, through experience, the great things He desires to do through us. As we draw near to Him, He reveals His heart to us, and His Spirit gives us the desire and ability to work with Him. In Psalm 25:14, David wrote,“The friendship of the Lord is for those who fear Him, and He makes known to them His covenant.” . Give God your willing and obedient heart, and you’ll never look back in regret for doing so!
