Hope is a supernatural virtue that undergirds our faith and is never dependant on natural circumstances. It’s what gives us a sure confidence to hold on, and push forward in the midst of every good fight of faith in our lives. That’s because Godly hope is having a clear mental picture of what God’s Word has promised us. It has the ability to create and maintain an earnest expectation within us to see what God has promised become our reality. That’s why the Bible says the Word of God produces a sure hope that becomes the anchor to our souls! Romans 4:18 says that Abraham chose to ignore the hopelessness of his natural body, and placed his hope in God’s promise for him to become the father of many nations! Romans 15:13 says the God of hope will fill us with all joy and peace as we choose to believe Him, and will cause us to abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. That word abound gives the picture of a wave coming over us, and overtaking us. We can expect a surge of supernatural hope to wash over us and continue without fading in force or power as we fix our gaze on the truth of God’s Word concerning us – until that promise becomes our physical reality.
