The Bible calls the words we say – our confession; and it teaches that what we confess will rule us. If we really believe a thing in our hearts, positive or negative, and we speak out what we believe, we will walk in that thing. This is a spiritual law every believer should know. Think about what happened when you gave your heart to the Lord Jesus. Romans 10:9-10 says, “Because if you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart a person believes and so is justified, and with the mouth he confesses and confirms [his] salvation.” When you believed in Jesus and what He did on the cross and in the resurrection for you, and you confessed what you believed with your words – you became born-again! This is a spiritual law! God operated by it when He created the universe and everything in it (Hebrews 11:3), and since we are made in His image, we operate by it too! This same spiritual law is mentioned in Mark 11:23, “For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.” Jesus said we will have what we say, when we believe it. The real confidence we have to believe comes when we ask for what is already in His Word, because He has already promised it! It’s time to believe what His Word says you are, and what you can have; and speak it out so you can walk in what He has promised you!
