When David wrote Psalm 8, he was looking at the wonder of God’s creation, in particular, God’s original intent for man. Adam was given the position of being just lower than God, yet above the angels. Although in verse 5, the translators wrote that man was made a little lower than the angels, the original Hebrew script says he was made a little lower than Elohim – the triune God. In verse 6, it says that God crowned Adam, not with a crown made of gold or jewels, but a crown of His glory and honour. Adam was crowned and wrapped in the manifest glory of God! With that glory, he was given dominion over all creation, and authority over the devil and all his principalities and power. We know this because David wrote that God put all things under Adam’s feet. However, when Adam sinned, the Bible says his sin caused all mankind to fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23; Romans 5:17). Through sin, man became eternally disconnected from the Presence of God and the authority that was once ours, was handed over to the devil. But Praise God for Jesus! The finished work of the cross caused everything that was lost, through Adam, to be reinstated to us through Jesus – the last Adam! Once and for all, Jesus paid the price for our redemption and complete restoration of what was lost in that Garden, on that fatal day. We, who have received our new life in Christ, are now once again clothed with the glory of God – we have living within us – Christ, the earnest expectation of God’s glory! That means we should expect His glory, that is within our re-born spirit-man to rise up and reflect His light and life, through our lives! What’s more – Ephesians 1:22-23 says God raised Jesus from the dead and, “…put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things TO the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.” Do you see that?! Because we are in Christ Jesus, we have been raised with Him to be seated together with Him, in heavenly places – and once again, all authority over the devil has been reinstated to us through Jesus! See yourself as reigning in life – right now – in Him! Begin to live like someone who has all things under your feet!
