Jonathan and his armour-bearer were totally outnumbered when they encountered the Philistine army. Just as in the natural, David was no match for Goliath, and Gideon -with his small band of men- was defenceless against the cruelty and brutality of the mighty Midianite army… Against all odds, obeying God and putting their complete trust in Him always led to significant victory.
Their confidence in God’s strength and ability to save and deliver them far outweighed their fear of the enemy. Just the same, our confidence comes from knowing our victory in this life lies in the strength and ability of a Mighty God Who has given us everything we need to overcome, and has promised to be with us always. When our dependency centres on our own abilities, we limit ourselves to the accomplishments of the natural realm. The reality is we are inseparably connected to the supernatural realm through the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit.
Learning to yield to Him and move in step with Him will always give us the upper hand – no matter how the odds are stacked up against us in the natural. God’s mind is always set on us living in victory over the enemy of lack and defeat. And if He is for us, nothing can stand against us.
