An Endless Supply of God’s Love

What a great commandment. Love one another – your spouse, your children, your brother or sister in Christ, the one who hurt you, the mocker, the beggar, the persecutor, the unjust, and the wicked – just as Christ has loved you! Jesus loved us so dearly that He gave us His life. He gave everything! 1 John tells us we love because He first loved us. Christ poured into us so lavishly that we are enabled to pour into others. The more we allow Jesus to pour into us, the more we are empowered to love unconditionally, without growing weary. There is enough love in Christ’s reservoir for us to draw from to satisfy our own need to be loved and to pour out to others. Romans 5:5 says that the Holy Spirit pours the love of God into our hearts. Each time we enter His Presence with open hearts to receive, and spend time with Him in His Word, His endless supply of love and power begins to flow. When we find ourselves in situations that trouble us, and we know that if we open our mouths our words will not be seasoned with peace and love, we must learn to keep silent, separate ourselves and tap into that reservoir of love and wisdom. Then, as we yield to the Holy Spirit and the wisdom of God’s Word, His peace and understanding will overpower the troubling thoughts and give us the right spirit and appropriate words to release at the proper time. This is how we walk in love, and display righteous character, just as Jesus showed us to do.
