When the wise men saw the sign in the sky, announcing the birth of the long-awaited Messiah, they travelled a great distance to come and see and worship Him. They didn’t arrive empty-handed either, they brought extravagant gifts. Their gifts were certainly costly treasures!
When God sent His Son, Jesus, to the earth – He gave us His most extravagant gift. Jesus is the gift that keeps on giving. No wonder we are never able to out-give God. He gives us abundant life when we deserve death. He gives us His Spirit, so we’re not left as orphans. He gives us spiritual gifts, to build and encourage one another and advance His Kingdom. He gives us authority over all the power of the enemy. There’s not one promise in His Word He won’t fulfill!
Let’s choose to make this Christmas extra special by acknowledging God’s goodness to us, and in return giving our very best gift to God. Let the Holy Spirit stir your heart, and lead you to be an extravagant giver into His kingdom this season! Become like your Heavenly Father – giving an extravagant gift because you are an extravagant giver! Merry Christmas
