Jesus was certain of who He was, despite the opinions and views of the world around Him. His certainty came from the love of His Heavenly Father and knowing what He was born on this earth to do. As a result, His confidence and passion shone through everything He did. It caused Him to operate in an authentic authority – not arrogance.
It’s quite easy to differentiate between the two. Arrogance is birthed out of pride and an inflated view of self-importance. Where true authority stems from a deep, inner-confidence from knowing you are unconditionally loved, and cherished. This confidence caused Jesus to speak and act with purpose and compassion everywhere He went. He wasn’t intimidated by the enemy, or offended by those who rejected Him. He was able to unashamedly radiate the true nature of His Father, and carry out His purpose with an authority even the elements recognised and obeyed.
This same authority has been given to us. Just as many were amazed at the works and teachings of Jesus, people will recognize the love and confidence you walk in comes from you knowing how much you are loved by God and how you believe what His Word says about you.
