Did you know that worry will hinder your faith? Have you ever tried to worship, or pray a faith-filled prayer whilst your mind is clouded with worrisome thoughts? I have, and it’s nothing but frustrating and unfruitful. The Bible doesn’t tell us to ignore what is troubling us, it tells us to take those cares and cast them upon the Lord! Do you know why? Because He cares for us! He knows full well that we can’t function in faith or walk in victory while worry is weighing us down. The phrase “to cast” in the Greek, means to literally “throw upon”. We are expected to waste no time in coming before the Lord and ridding ourselves of every burden. The most effective way to do this is by bringing the problem to Him, along with what His Word says concerning it. So, your prayer sounds something like this, “Father, I give you what is troubling me, and I thank You that Your Word says this about it…” Now, if you don’t know how to pray effectively for the situation that has stolen your peace, then do what His Word says in Romans 8:26-27: Pray in the Holy Ghost, with your mind engaged in what He is praying through your spirit. (1 Corinthians 14:15 Passion Translation). The Holy Spirit will cause an idea or answer to rise from your spirit into your mind while you are praying. As you act on that thought – peace replaces that worry – in an instant! Faith isn’t in our minds – it comes from, and lives in our reborn spirit-man – where the Holy Spirit lives! So, every time we meditate on what God says, whether it’s His spontaneous voice in our hearts, or His written promises, faith rises up from our spirits, washes over our thoughts and adjusts them to align with Gods thoughts. Along with that faith comes supernatural peace and joy, which infuses us with inner strength! Then, when we open our mouths, our words are filled with that faith, instead of worry, and those words of faith go forth to produce exactly what is needed to see the trouble reversed! Praise God! As you cast your cares upon the Lord, all things will work together for good, because you love the Lord, and you are called to fulfil His kingdom purpose! (Romans 8:28).
