1 John 2:6 (NIV): “Whoever claims to live in Him must live as Jesus did.”
It’s easy to say we are children of God, and claim we are people of faith; but there’s a huge difference between speaking something and actually living it out. This verse is not addressing non-believers, but those who profess to follow Christ. If we are serious enough to say we are Christians, then we must be serious enough to follow through on our confessions. Thankfully we have the Spirit of God living inside us. The Bible says He is our teacher and guide, and will always lead us into all truth and help us to live it out. As we willingly surrender to follow after His will each day, in everything we do, He will empower and enable us to walk out our faith with confidence. This confidence only comes by us being completely dependent on Him, and not on our own efforts or wisdom. To live in close, intimate partnership with the Lord, by His Spirit, is the only way we can really be what we profess to be.
