Empowered to Go!

After Jesus was filled with the Holy Spirit, He ministered in great power and authority (Luke 3:22). The Bible records how He went from town to town preaching about the Kingdom of God, demonstrating and proving His message with signs, wonders and miracles everywhere He went. While He was ministering on earth, He was training his disciples to continue His ministry after His death, resurrection, and ascension. The most important part of His final instruction to them, before He went to be with His Father, was that they were to wait for the promised Holy Spirit (Joel 2:28). Jesus wanted them to understand He was not sending them into the world to do the work alone, or by their own authority. He would still be present in them, empowering them by His Spirit. This way they would have the authority to do what He did and say what He said. When the Holy Spirit filled them on the day of Pentecost, none of them were ever the same, they had been empowered for life and ministry. Just as the Holy Spirit empowered them to live free of sin, and full of the life and power of God to demonstrate His kingdom to people wherever they went, we have been given the same commission and empowerment! Open your heart to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and continue to yield to His infilling of love and power each day. Then you will carry the very Presence of Jesus to people everywhere you go! Go in His Name, His authority, and His power!
