If ever there was a time for the Word of God to be alive in our hearts – it’s now! When Jesus was tempted by the devil in the wilderness, He responded to each question with the words, “It is written!” The Holy Spirit reminded Jesus of the most appropriate truth needed to combat each test the devil threw at Him. He will do the same for us too, only we must be sure there is already a deposit of God’s Word in our hearts for Him to remind us of.
The Word we take the time to read and meditate on will be the word the Holy Spirit brings to our attention exactly when we need it. But there’s more – only the word that’s become our own truth has the power to silence the enemy. Anyone can quote scripture, but the power lies in whether we believe it enough for it to become what we live by.
Take time to read and study the Word of God for yourself, let its truth become a revelation to you personally. Allow it to shape and mould your character and mindset; that’s when it becomes alive and produces the spiritual force of faith. It’s that faith-filled word from within you the enemy has no power to withstand – and it’s what the Holy Spirit will remind you of the very moment you need it.
