Fear No Evil

The greatest antidote to the destructive nature of fear is a revelation of God’s perfect love for us. One of the quickest ways to get our minds and hearts to that place of overwhelming peace and joy is to remind ourselves of Who God is! Dwelling on the greatness, goodness and faithfulness of God, and His promises, builds a firm foundation of trust in us.

When the people of Israel stopped keeping the Lord in the forefront of their minds and hearts, they became calloused towards Him, which led to them doubting in His goodness and faithfulness towards them. As soon as they started forgetting who God was, fear stepped in and they put their trust elsewhere. As a result, He removed His presence from them and they were left without His comfort, protection, and provision.

Now, we do have a better covenant – God has promised to never remove His Presence from us. However, when we stop keeping Him in the forefront of our minds and hearts, fear and misplaced trust moves in – and our own calloused hearts block ourselves from experiencing the reality of His presence in our lives. Every day: make a decision to turn away from fear as you remember who your God is, and how much He loves and cares for you! Allow yourself to become dependent on His perfect love and all fear will be gone!
