There is a distinct difference between head knowledge and experiential knowledge. Once you have tasted, and seen that the Lord is good and He has proven to be faithful in your life, there’s simply no way you will be convinced otherwise.
The Holy Spirit is the One Who plays the role in turning head knowledge into revelation knowledge in our lives. He is able to reveal to us how God’s Word is true and actively unfolding in our lives. Without Him, we aren’t able to fully recognise God’s ever-present involvement in every part of our lives. The Holy Spirit makes God known to us. He makes His Word alive in us. John 17:3 says eternal life is to know, to perceive, recognise, and become acquainted with God, as we know His Son.
It’s the Holy Spirit Who allows us to experience what it is to know Christ intimately. When we open our hearts to Him, trusting Him to do what He is purposed to do – He will move us from just knowing about God, to personally experiencing what it is to have Him fill and flood every part of our lives with Himself.
