God First

Many things demand our attention in life. There is a constant drive for achieving better and greater – better material items, more effective diets to reach optimal physical goals, greater business opportunities that promise increased riches, better academic credentials to further our careers, the list goes on. While there is nothing wrong in furthering our potential, or improving the condition of our lives, when the urge to attain these things overshadows and replaces our desire and devotion to know God more and serve Him, they become idols in our lives. This is dangerous ground for our spiritual wellbeing and begins a downward spiral of our faith and power to overcome in this life. We set in motion an exhausting cycle of never quite having or being enough, which always leads to disillusionment and disappointment. If you’ve noticed your devotion to the Lord has taken second place, it’s time to set things right! Shift your priorities giving Him first place, and you will set your life on course for peace, joy, and victory again.
