God’s Inexpressible Gift

In the context of the above verse, Paul the Apostle was stirring up the church to give generously into God’s kingdom work, encouraging them to see their generosity as a personal ministry unto the Lord. He said their generous giving would produce generosity in others. This is significant because generosity produces joy in both the one giving, and the one receiving! Paul ends off this chapter by proclaiming: “Thanks be to God for His inexpressible gift!” Any gift we give can be measured or expressed by a value attached to it; however, the gift that comes from God is inexpressible! His gift to us is His Precious Holy Spirit! It is His very Own nature living inside of us! This season, when you look upon the nativity scene, don’t just see the Saviour of the world as a baby. Perceive the reality that your King came from glory and humbled Himself to become His very creation – to show us the way back to the Father. Jesus, in His glorious love, made it possible for us to receive the inexpressible gift of the Holy Spirit who enables us to live in an inseparable relationship with God. God’s great generosity towards us caused a joy to well up inside Jesus to endure that cross as He gave Himself; and that same generosity produces joy in all who receive Him! This Christmas, with great joy, carry the testimony of God’s inexpressible gift operating in and through you, as you showcase His generosity!
