One of the things Paul exhorted Timothy to immerse himself in was the public and private reading of scripture that would exhort, teach and instil doctrine (1 Timothy 4:13). Then, as he was diligent to cultivate and mediate on these truths, he would increase in every way and his progress would be evident to all. Timothy’s steadfast devotion to the Word was essential for his success. Proverbs 4:4-13 list some invaluable qualities imparted to us when we give ourselves to meditating on and embracing the wisdom of God’s Word. The benefits of loving and prizing highly the word of God in our lives are far too valuable to set aside or ignore! The word that is alive inside us will keep, defend, protect and guard us. It will exalt, promote and bring us honor. It will crown us with gracefulness, beauty and glory! It will add years to our lives and our steps will not be hampered because it will clear and open the path before us; and it will cause us to run in our purpose without stumbling! Choose to daily immerse yourself in the word so your progress along with these wonderful qualities will be evident to all!
