The Bible tells us that when we became born-again, the Holy Spirit created a brand-new spirit inside us, and then He moved in, taking occupation of it. Hallelujah! Our old, sinful nature that was bound to sin died with Jesus on the cross. Then, at the exact moment the Holy Spirit raised Jesus up from the dead – He did that creative work inside us and made us alive in Christ! You may wonder how this is even possible, since we weren’t even alive when Jesus physically died on that cross. Praise God! He isn’t limited to time and space – the finished work of the cross was done once for all mankind – for all time. That means, whenever a person decides to repent of their sins and surrender to the Lordship of Jesus – in the realm of the spirit – they are immediately transported to the exact event of Jesus dying on the cross and being raised to life again! Now, that same power that raised Jesus and us to life, seated us together at the right hand of the Father! A place that is high above every rule, and dominion, and principality, and power! The devil has absolutely no power over us any longer! He has no right to put sickness, or depression, or lack on our lives. The Bible says God gave Jesus the Name that is above every other name, and that by that Name every knee will bow. Then Jesus gave us – who believe – the full use of that Name! All of this is done by the resurrection power of the Holy Spirit. And it’s that same power that resides inside us to continuously put to death that old sinful nature that made us live to sin. Any time you find that old nature rears its head with thoughts and feelings of hatred, jealousy, depression or fear – immediately recognize it as no longer being yours! Jesus took that old nature off of you and nailed it to the cross and exchanged it for His Own – perfect nature. Now you have love, peace, joy, goodness, kindness, self-control and every other character of His Holy Spirit living in you! So, live purposefully – keeping that old nature dead by refusing to go along with it. Then thank the Lord for His Own nature that flows like a mighty river in you. As you begin to praise Him and acknowledge this truth – that river will overflow, and your new nature will dominate and rule in you forever!
