Victory over the devil and sin, is ours through the finished work of the cross! The Bible teaches that the time for the devil to roam this earth and dominate the second heaven with his reign of terror is coming to an end. When Jesus comes again, just as the Bible proclaims, the devil and his evil cohorts will be imprisoned for a time. After that, they will be judged and sentenced to the lake of fire for eternity. Now he knows his time is short, and according to Revelation 12:12, there is coming a terrible time for the inhabitants of the earth, because the devil, having great wrath, will unleash his fury. For the believer in Christ Jesus, we are told that we have nothing to fear because we overcome him by 3 powerful weapons used against him: 1) the blood of the lamb, 2) the word of our testimony – which is our mouths being full of the Word of God; and 3) us being more aware of our eternal significance than our earthly comfort. 1 John 4:5 says, “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.” What are we to have faith in? Romans 3:25 says we are made right with God when we believe in the blood of Jesus, and what it has accomplished for us! In other words – we are to have faith in the power of the blood of Jesus Christ! In Hebrews 11:28, it’s recorded that Moses had faith in the blood of the sacrificed lamb, that was applied to the doorposts of the Israelite’s homes. He fully believed it had the power to keep destruction away from God’s people. Today, we know that blood applied was symbolic of the shed blood of Jesus. Just as Moses had faith in the blood to save them from destruction, we are to have faith in the blood of Jesus to do the same for us. We apply that blood by believing what the Word says about its power, and our authority over the devil – who is a defeated foe. Be confident in this powerful defense you have against the devil: The blood of the Lamb, your testimony of faith in God’s Word, and your eternal purpose to destroy the devil’s works and establish God’s kingdom. Praise God for the overcoming, wonder-working power of His Word; His blood; and His purpose in us!
