Put Patience to Work

Abraham never allowed himself to slip into a state of unbelief, even when all the odds stood against him. God had promised Abraham descendants that would be a blessing to the nations of the earth! The trouble was he and his wife Sarah, were well past childbearing age, which made it humanly impossible for God’s promise to be fulfilled in the natural. The Bible says Abraham considered the fact that his body was as good as dead, but he refused to relent on his faith.  He was fully persuaded that God would keep His promise to give him and Sarah children.  Then, after years of patient endurance, Abraham and Sarah had Isaac, the son of promise. Just as Abraham did not lose faith, or waver in his belief, we must decide to not lose faith in God’s promises either. Kenneth Copeland wrote, “Faith is the force that gave birth to this natural world. So it can change or overcome anything in it.”  It was a natural impossibility for this patriarchal couple to have children, but the force of faith had the power to change that.  Two distinct things empowered Abraham’s faith. Firstly, he had God’s Word on it, and secondly, he allowed patience to undergird his faith. If we choose to not grow weary in doing good – which is to remain steadfast in our faith, in due season we will receive what has been promised, if we don’t give up (Galatians 6:9). Once you have a word form God, allow patience to have its perfect work so that you will be complete, lacking nothing – and walking in the fulfilment of His promises!
