We have been made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus! That means while we are in Christ, we will remain in right standing with God. How do we remain in Christ and right standing with God? The above text tells us: “Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth.” To put on the belt of truth, is to secure ourselves in the Word of God. Deciding to be steadfast in the scriptures, anchoring ourselves in God’s perspective is what keeps us in line with His will. Giving ourselves to the Word draws the Holy Spirit to come alongside us and lead us into all truth. He brings to remembrance all those precious promises and supernatural wisdom we fed ourselves on when we diligently spent time in His Word. He literally whispers the exact word we need at the exact time we need it to strengthen our faith and position us for victory. Even so, this is a choice we have to make, a conviction we must hold – to have the word of God dwell richly inside us. This is how we abide in Christ and remain in right standing with God. If we choose to not do this, we will return to a life of slavery to sin and be overcome with it’s devices. The Word says it is better that we had not known the way to righteousness, than to know it and reject it (2 Peter 2:21). Standing in righteousness is living a holy life. Holiness comes as a result of close intimacy with the Lord and His Word. Remain steadfast in Christ and you will overcome the world!
