Knowledge is crucial. Hosea 4:6 says that God’s people perish for lack of knowledge. The truth is, where there is ignorance, the devil can have a field day! There is little resistance to his destructive work while believers go around being ignorant of their identity and authority in Christ Jesus. He will convince them to accept every bit of lack, sickness, and defeat he throws their way. Even when the believer has received the baptism of the Holy Spirit – God’s indwelling, resurrection power will be hindered to flow in and through their lives – as long as they remain ignorant of what God’s Word says. So, what is the difference between revelation knowledge and mental knowledge? Mental knowledge is being informed about something, where revelation knowledge is truth that has become real to us, through the Holy Spirit. He enlightens or unveils a truth in God’s Word that was always there, but we never really saw it until the moment He revealed it to us. That scripture literally comes alive inside us as we suddenly understand and grasp it in a way we never did before. Revelation knowledge cannot be ignored or stolen from us. It has become part of our belief system, and is very powerful, because it enables us to live out what we have received. When Peter acknowledged that Jesus was the Christ, the Son of the Living God, he was speaking from revelation knowledge. Only the Spirit of God could have made that truth real to Peter. Jesus went on to say that this revelation truth, of who He truly was, would be what His church would be built upon! It’s no wonder, after the baptism of the Holy Spirit, that God used Peter to powerfully teach and demonstrate this truth to the church in Jerusalem. Revelation truth will come to you as you meditate on the Word of God. Expect the Holy Spirit to change that word you read and agree with, into what you truly believe, and live.
