There is a constant tug between the desires of our flesh and the desire of the Spirit of God within us. The flesh demands attention that is never fully satisfied. It may receive a sense of instant gratification, but it never lasts – and always leaves us with an emptiness that screams to be filled. Even before God physically created man, the Bible says He chose us to be in Him (Ephesians 1:4).
The God Who created us fully intended to live in us, and have us live in Him. 1 Corinthians 8:6 says: “…for us there is [only] one God, the Father, Who is the Source of all things and for Whom we [have life], and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through and by Whom are all things and through and by Whom we [ourselves exist].” This means in this life, we will never be completely satisfied by anything other than God!
Whenever you feel your soul thirsting for more, know that thirst will only be satisfied by the manifest Presence of God. Tell Him you love Him, and thirst after Him. Give Him full access to all of you – spirit, soul, and body – as you let His life, power, and love rise up in your spirit and overflow into every area of your life – quenching your thirst and satisfying your soul, like nothing on earth can.
