Being teachable and quick to respond to the prompting of the Holy Spirit is a quality every child of God would do well to embrace. The more we understand His character, and the results of yielding to His will – the quicker we obey with a willing and grateful attitude. We are living in a world that is driven by fear and caters entirely to gratifying the desires of the flesh. This may seem harmless at first, but unless we remain rooted and steadfast in the Word of God and in constant fellowship with the Holy Spirit – we can easily lose our footing and fall off course. The sobering truth is that getting caught up in the things of the world and not the Spirit, makes us powerless against the tactics of the devil (Romans 8:1).
However, abiding in Jesus will always keep us in a place of absolute trust, peace, and joy! While we are living on this earth, there will always be an opportunity for us to get distracted by offence, disappointment, or sin. So we must be vigilant to keep ourselves full of God’s living Word, and the power of His Holy Spirit. David asked the Lord to search him; he wanted to have an awareness on the state of his heart and thoughts. In Psalm 19:14, he asked that the meditation of his heart and the words of his mouth be pleasing to the Lord. Let this be your prayer as you live in Christ amidst the reality of this world.
