Jesus is interested in people being whole and well. One of the wonderful benefits of the cross is complete healing and health in the life of a believer. This is something we have access to as our inheritance in Christ Jesus. In John 4:46-54, we read about a royal official approaching Jesus, and pleading for Him to come heal his son. The man believed that if Jesus walked into his home and touched his son, he would be healed. Yet, Jesus simply spoke these words: “Go back home. Your son will live!” The man didn’t even have to make it all the way home. One of his servants ran to meet him to tell him his son was healed. When the nobleman asked for the exact hour, the fever broke and his son became well, the servant revealed it was the exact hour Jesus spoke His words of healing over him. This left no room for doubt for this nobleman, he was convinced Jesus was exactly who He said he was, and as a result, his entire household believed! In verse 48, before Jesus spoke the words that healed the boy, He said these words to the nobleman, “Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will by no means believe.” As believers in Christ, we need to begin to believe what His Word says, before we see it manifest in our lives. This is what real faith is. This kind of faith comes from us spending time in the Word, learning who we are in Jesus, and all He has made available to us through the finished work of the cross. We need to always be in a position where we can receive from the Lord, because we believe His Word – even before we see it do the work. When we take God at His Word, we receive all He has promised us. Regardless of the circumstances opposing what has been promised, the powerful force of faith inside a believer, far exceeds any resistance to that promise becoming our reality. Faith in God’s Word causes us to experience every benefit of the cross, and the wonders of Heaven operating in our lives, right here, and now. So let your faith cause you to see what you believe.
