Matthew 15:28 (KJV): “Then Jesus answered her, O woman, great is your faith! Be it done for you as you wish. And her daughter was cured from that moment.”

Jesus was addressing a Canaanite woman who was desperate for her daughter to be delivered from a demon spirit. What makes this story so irresistibly interesting is in spite of His reluctance to help her at first, this woman’s tenacious faith compelled Jesus to change His mind and act on her behalf! Jesus clearly stated His mandate at that time was primarily for the lost sheep of Israel.
This woman was not an Israelite, she didn’t even live in that district; but she heard about Jesus and was completely convinced He was from God, and had the power to deliver her daughter. She knew she would be up for a fight when she crossed the line into Israelite territory – imploring the Israelites’ God. But she did it anyway, refusing to back down. Her unshakable, relentless faith so impressed Jesus that He broke protocol and did exactly what she asked of Him.
We, unlike this woman, are in Christ Jesus; we have been given all authority over the enemy and anything that opposes us from receiving fullness of life. If we exercised an ounce of her tenacious attitude – our faith would bring every promise of God into our reality!
