Jesus is the only foundation we are to build our thoughts, attitudes, conversations, and actions on. He is the truth that will hold through every season and storm for eternity. His truth is His Word (John 1:1-3; John 1:14). If the Word is not our firm foundation, we will always be unstable in all we do. Any construction worker knows that if the foundation is weak or poorly laid, it will affect the entire structure. In the same way, if we have not made God’s Word the firm foundation of our lives, the moment trouble comes, the weaknesses in what we have built our beliefs on will be revealed. Whatever beliefs we’ve built that is contrary to the will of God will come falling down. Jesus said that if anyone hears His words and does them, they will be like the man who built his house upon the rock (Matthew 7:24-25). That rock speaks of Jesus, and His truth is firm and immovable. Even though we live in a world driven by constant, contradicting change; the one thing that must remain constant in our lives is the unchanging Word of God. When everything around us is tossed about in confusion and fear, let God’s Word become the anchor of our souls – keeping us safe and prosperous in all our ways.
