Why Pray?

Prayer is powerful. Because of the finished work of the cross, we are able to operate in the same power and authority Jesus operated in during His ministry on earth (Matthew 28:18-20).  He showed us how to tap into our source of power and strength, to see the supernatural manifest in and through our lives, by consistently spending time with His Heavenly Father in prayer.  And then, He taught us how to pray, in Matthew 6:9.  Jesus explained that through prayer, we have the keys to see His kingdom established here on earth. In Mathew 16:19 He said whatever is not permitted in heaven we can refuse to be permitted here on earth, and whatever is permitted in heaven, we can declare here on earth.  As believers, we are obligated to declare God’s Will in the earth, to stand in the gap for others, and intercede on their behalf. We have a responsibility to maintain and grow in our relationship with our Heavenly Father by encountering His Presence, and we do all this by coming before Him in prayer.
