The Bible tells us how Jesus was anointed by the Holy Spirit to do the works of God among people (Acts 10:38). Then in Luke 10:19, Jesus transfers this power and authority onto the disciples: “Behold! I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and [physical and mental strength and ability] over all the power that the enemy [possesses]; and nothing shall in any way harm you.” In Mark 16:17-18, He literally tells them what signs will accompany them when they believe and use His Name! Then, before Jesus leaves the earth, in Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus tells the disciples to go into all the world – making disciples – just as He had made of them. They were to teach others exactly what He had taught them! “Teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you…”. The word observe means to closely examine and do the same! Then, Jesus gave this promise, “… and behold, I am with you all the days (perpetually, uniformly, and on every occasion), to the [very] close and consummation of the age. Amen (so let it be).” This means, the anointing, the power and the authority that enabled Him to do the works of God among men, that was transferred to the disciples to do the same, was the very same anointing, power, and authority they were to pass on from generation to generation – until the end of the age! That is until Jesus Christ comes back for His church! When Jesus said He would be with us, even though He would physically be in heaven, He would be with us by His indwelling Holy Spirit. He also told us in Matthew 18:20, that whenever we gather in His Name – He is right there in our midst! What does all this mean? Until Jesus comes back, in His glorified body, to fetch His church – He is very much alive inside us, empowering and authorising us to use His Name and continue to do the works of God among people! He never left us – He has always been with us! Never let go of this truth as you live each day working with Him to see the kingdom of darkness pushed back and God’s kingdom advanced until we see Him face to face!
