Have you ever wondered why some people struggle to make and keep commitments? Sometimes the fear of not being able to remain dedicated holds them back. The truth is, for a child of God, faithfulness is part of our new nature in Christ Jesus. God is faithful, and His Spirit lives within us – imparting His own faithful nature to us. When we understand who God has created our new spirits to be, we can yield to the transforming work He does within us.
We are faithful because He is faithful. This faithful nature becomes more evident in our lives when we make knowing and loving the Lord our first priority. You see, putting Him first engages us in something greater than ourselves. It causes His own nature to be reflected in our lives. As we love Him, we are able to love others.
As we trust Him, we learn to draw from the deep reservoir of His dependable character. Never be reluctant to move forward in life because you doubt your character will sustain your ability to be faithful to see it through. Rather, devote yourself to knowing and loving God; and His character will provide all the faithfulness you need.
