Your Safe Place

David wrote this Psalm in the throws of facing the threat of death. To add to this trouble was the pain of knowing the one pursuing him was his own son, Absalom. Absalom was adamant on overthrowing his father as king. As a response, David turned to God in prayer, asking for His deliverance.

This wasn’t something new for David, he had seen the saving hand of God miraculously rescue him time and again in his life. He knew what it was to place his life securely in the hands of his God, Who had proven to be faithful.  No matter what level of security or insecurity we face in this life, our true rest and confidence come from being able to trust in God. He never sleeps or slumbers, and His hold on us never relaxes.

As we get ready to step into a brand new year, there may be a measure of uncertainty that lurks in the back of our thoughts.  But of this one thing we can be sure – God can be trusted!  He is our place of safety and security.  He is willing and well able to protect and keep us entirely. Make a habit of resting in Him and His promises, which He will always make good concerning you.
