Rejoicing is something we are empowered and enabled to do because the Holy Spirit imparted the fruit of joy within us the moment we became born-again! As children of God, joy is a powerful, supernatural quality of the Holy Spirit that we possess; and rejoicing is something we must choose to do.
If you’re wondering what you could possibly have to rejoice about, just look at what the Word says: we are to rejoice in the fact that we are in Him. The God of the impossible, the One Who makes all things new, and is our constant source of abundant life, is Who we delight in! He constantly works all things for our good and He lives in us. Jesus has already overcome the world and taken away the devil’s power to harm us (John 16:33)!
There is nothing He cannot do for us, and He has promised there is no good thing He will withhold from us. So when life hands us disappointment or challenges, our immediate response must be to turn to the One Who is in us, with us, and for us. His Word holds the truth that has the power to keep our minds in perfect peace and the practical wisdom we need to overcome. This is what we rejoice in: He is Who we delight in, and triumph is the result – every time!
