Jesus, gave Himself to prayer! He fully understood the importance of meeting alone with God. Jesus knew His time of personal prayer was far more than just gleaming information and instruction from God, it was a time of being saturated with His life-giving Presence – to intuitively know Him and His heart, and to experience being known by Him. In the secluded place, being alone with His Father, Jesus was filled with His Father’s love and approval.
The peace and joy that spontaneously flowed from this union fuelled His confidence to obey every instruction as though it was done by the Father Himself – the One He was representing. Experiencing the Father’s Presence like this graces us with His glory, just as it did Jesus (John 17:23). If we want to succeed the way Jesus did, we must understand the value of abiding as we give ourselves to prayer.
