Anyone who says they abide in Christ, must live in a way that resembles His Presence in their lives. The Bible tells of some pretty significant changes that take place in a person who has surrendered to the Lordship of Jesus Christ! 2 Corinthians 5:17 says the nature of our inner man becomes completely new! Our old nature, with it’s sinful desires and selfish motives has gone, replaced by a new, clean, perfect nature of Jesus! 1 Corinthians 6:17-20 says we have become one spirit with Jesus! We are now His dwelling place, hallelujah, His Spirit has literally taken occupation and possession of our inner man. Now it’s no longer we who call the shots, Jesus does! So we live trusting and believing in Him to show us how to think, speak, and behave after His ways and personality (Galatians 2:20). If this is all true, and we say that we are abiding in Jesus and His life-giving word; then it’s impossible to not have evidence of this change in the way we conduct ourselves. The love and affection Jesus displayed for His Father was evident in everything He did. His chief desire was to please Him as He represented Him well. Jesus lived in victory over the devil and sin, and He joyfully brought healing and wholeness through His acts of love and compassion everywhere He went. It’s time to let the new nature we have been given dominate the way we live – providing proof of the change inside us!
