A Legacy of Faith

When the Prophet Elisha encountered the woman known as the “poor widow” in the Bible, he instructed her and her son to collect as many house hold containers as they could find.  Then she was to pour the little bit of oil she had left into those containers. We read in 2 Kings 4 that the oil kept flowing and filling each container, and only when there were no more containers left to be filled did the oil stop flowing. Something so significant to note is that this seed of provision that was sown by this widow that day, didn’t only benefit her immediate need, it benefited her whole family for the rest of her life! We serve a generational God Who intends to provide for, and take care of us and our children. As we live our lives, we must understand the purpose and responsibility we have to live by example and influence the next generation to live by faith. We have the privilege to raise up Godly children who see the fruit of every seed sown in faith.  What a wonderful legacy to leave, laying a solid foundation for them to build on! Living in a way that demonstrates our obedience to God’s Word and our complete trust in Him is never for our benefit alone, but for those who observe and follow after our example. Begin to live life with an awareness of the legacy you are consistently forging in the hearts and minds of those under your authority.
