A Life Set Apart

This wonderful promise was given to the children of Israel. They were, and still remain His special covenant people, the apple of His eye – forever!  What is truly remarkable, is the truth that through the finished work of the cross, we have been grafted into this wonderful covenant (Romans 11).  Take a look at what 1 Peter 2:9 says about those who are in Christ Jesus: “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;”. Praise God! We have been chosen by God, He has set us apart and considers us to be His treasure. It’s important to understand our God is holy, no fault or imperfection can ever be found in Him, and He has reconciled us to Himself through His Son, Jesus.  Colossians 1:19-23 confirms this truth.   Take a look at what Colossians 1:21-22 says, “And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight,”.  Praise the Lord! Jesus presents us holy and blameless to God! Through the re-birth of our spirit-man, we are sealed by His Holy Spirit, making our spirits perfect before the Father!  The part of us that has not been redeemed however, is our souls.  Our thoughts, emotions and will need to continuously be sanctified so that we can live out the reality of what God has done in our spirits. This is done through the renewing of our minds to the Word of God – which is our responsibility (Romans 12:2-3).  Colossians 1:23 explains what is expected of us, to have our lives (souls and bodies) presented holy and blameless before the Lord: “[And this He will do] provided that you continue to stay with and in the faith [in Christ], well-grounded and settled and steadfast, not shifting or moving away from the hope [which rests on and is inspired by] the glad tidings (the Gospel), which you heard and which has been preached [as being designed for and offered without restrictions] to every person under heaven, and of which [Gospel] I, Paul, became a minister.” Your life will be marked by God as holy and blameless, as long as you choose to continue living in Christ Jesus – by remaining steadfast in faith through consistently renewing your mind to His Word.
