A New Name
In the time the book of Revelation was written, a white stone symbolised innocence. If you were tried for a crime, a white stone would signify your acquittal and a black stone signified you were found guilty.

A black stone implied you would receive punishment fit for your crime, where a white stone meant redemption from the sentence and a clean record for your name. When we choose to live for Christ in a world driven by influences to sin – and we refuse to compromise, holding tightly to the truth – we will overcome. As our faith is tested and we remain determined to rule over sin, we will receive a victor’s reward.

Perhaps the name engraved on our stones will declare the very things we triumphed over as we kept our faith in Christ Jesus. Perhaps it will be significant to our eternal calling in Christ as we reign with Him forever.
