In Luke 4:18 we read how Jesus read from the scroll of Isaiah, the prophecy about Himself. How He was anointed by the Spirit of God to do the work of God among the people. He knew who He was and what He was empowered to do on the earth. He wasn’t intimidated by the devil or distracted by the things of the world. He was firmly rooted in His identity and purpose. Pleasing His Father was His ultimate desire. 1 John 4:17 says that for those who are in Christ Jesus – as He is, so are we in this world! What’s more, in John 14:12-14 Jesus said these words about believers in Him: “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.” If we are to truly walk like Jesus did on this earth, we must do just as Jesus did. We can’t expect to do less and have the same results. We must be as wholeheartedly committed to the Kingdom of God as He was. Every child of God has access to the Father through Jesus! When we are filled with His Spirit, we have the same power within us that raised Jesus from the dead! We have been given the same position of authority over the devil and we have been given the Name of Jesus that is respected and adhered to in heaven, on the earth, and beneath the earth! On this basis, replace your name in Acts 10:38. Know that God has anointed YOU with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then YOU go around doing good, healing all who are oppressed by the devil, for God is with YOU”! Let an urgency rise up inside you today to do God’s Word on this earth. As you are obedient to His voice and leading, He will work through you and be glorified for doing great works amongst all people!
