Assistance from Angels

The Bible portrays angels as supernatural beings that have the ability to move as swiftly as the winds and as powerfully as flames of fire (Hebrews 1:7).  They are known to be strong and mighty warriors, and a very real and vital part of our lives.  In Psalm 91:11, we are told that God has given His angels charge over us, to keep us in all our ways! This is a sure promise for us as God’s covenant children.  Thousands of years ago, when the children of Israel had escaped the Egyptians and crossed over the Red Sea, on dry ground; God’s angels did some pretty impressive work to keep them safe from their previous captors.  The Bible says that as the Egyptian chariots raced after the Israelites through the dry seabed – the chariot wheels got stuck! They just stopped rolling and the sea closed up over the Egyptians.  God’s angelic hosts, at the perfect time and place, prevented those Egyptians from pursuing the Israelites; and God’s people were saved.  The Bible records many instances where angels were actively deployed to assist and rescue God’s people.  They pulled Lot and his family out of the burning city of Sodom.  They shut the mouths of the lions for Daniel. They blinded an entire army who came to harm the prophet Elisha and his servant. Perhaps one of the most remarkable, modern-day accounts of God’s angels protecting His people was during the Six Day War in 1967. Israel defeated three Arab armies; they gained territory four times its original size; and they became the preeminent military power in the region.  There are testimonies of how the enemy had their guns, of the finest military weaponry, trained on Israeli cities and targets.  Each time they fired, they missed their targets. The IDF (Israeli Defense Force) captured those weapons and used them to fire back at the enemy with perfect accuracy and success! In the natural, Israel should never have won that war. They were outnumbered and under-equipped to withstand the attack.  But once again, God sent His angels to protect them and give them the victory.  As His covenant children, we are able to trust the Lord to give His angels charge over us in all our ways.  Thank Him today for His faithfulness over you and your family in this regard.
