The way we think affects everything! Which is why we need to have a mind that cooperates with God, instead of hindering the flow of what He has for us. The Bible says the way we receive from God is through faith. That faith already exists in our perfect, re-born spirits. As long as our minds are filled with the truth of God’s Word, that faith can flow freely from our spirits and out our mouths on our words and lay a hold of everything God has for us. This is called having a sound mind! The enemy will constantly put thoughts in our minds that are contrary to God’s truth, often in ways that disguise their deceit. If we are not skilled in knowing the Word, we can begin to agree with those incorrect thoughts. The more we agree with them, the more they poison our perspective and lead us out of agreement with God’s Word and His faith that is in our spirits. This is what hinders the flow of faith in our lives and stops it from going to work on our behalf. So, what do we do to these deceptive thoughts when we recognize where they have come from? We answer them with the Word of God! In other words, we stop them in their tracks and correct them with the truth of what God says about the matter. This is how we walk in the spirit! Keeping our minds renewed to the Word and correcting every incorrect thought with its truth. This is how we allow the steady flow of faith in our lives to keep us receiving every good thing we have in Christ Jesus! The Holy Spirit is constantly at work inside your spirit, and as you pay attention to the Word, He will cause its truth to be alive and clear inside you – dominating every thought – so you will be able to easily recognize the ones that contradict that truth. Our responsibility is to continuously delight in the Word – and the Holy Spirit will be faithful to alert us to the thoughts that don’t belong – so we can deal with them swiftly just as His Word instructs us to do.
