God told the children of Israel to keep His Word before them at all times. Why? Because God wanted to demonstrate His greatness, kindness, and generosity through them as a people to the nations. It was impossible to do this while they had the wrong mindset. Even though God had freed them from 400 years of Egyptian captivity, they still carried a slave mentality. The Bible says they had no faith, and consistently doubted Him and complained against Him. They simply didn’t see themselves from His perspective. That’s why they needed to constantly be reminded of His truth – He was their God and had set out ways for them to live so that it would go well with them and their descendants!
This principle carries through for us today! Under the New Covenant, we need to constantly renew our minds to the perspective of Who God sees us to be so that we can live free and flourish! 1 Peter 2:9 says, “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation, [God’s] own purchased, special people, that you may set forth the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of Him Who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light.”. As you meditate on God’s Word, the Holy Spirit reveals truth to you that will bring supernatural change! You will see yourself as He does and live in the fullness of life He has saved you into!
