Christ is our life! When we received Him into our hearts, the life and nature of God were imparted into our spirits. We now have the Christ-life, the divine life inside us! The more we learn about Him and experience Him in His Word, through the Holy Spirit revealing Him to us, the more His life is expressed in and through us. This transformation only takes place by us meditating on the Word of God. In other words, its truth is constantly on our minds. Psalm 1 speaks of how meditating on God’s Word day and night causes us to become like a tree that has roots planted by streams of water – causing it to be so well nourished that it produces fruit in its season. Its leaf doesn’t wither when heat comes, because its vitality is sustained by the water it’s constantly taking in, and everything it does prospers and comes to maturity. When God’s Word becomes our primary source of influence, it literally becomes our way of life. The Bible says if Christ is in us, even if our natural bodies are ravaged by sickness or disease, the Spirit gives our bodies life because of the life and nature of God dwelling in us (Romans 8:10,11). As we increase the time we meditate on God’s word, His life that dwells inside us increases its influence in us too! The depraved and defeated life of the flesh will be superseded by the life of Christ that is in us – causing us to live by His supernatural life till Christ becomes our life!
