Every born-again believer is united with the Lord and is one spirit with Him (1 Corinthians 6:17). This means we are inseparably connected to the One who has not only set us free from the bondage and curse of sin, but we have His resurrection power living inside us to keep us free!
1 John 4:17 says that in this union we have with Him, love is brought to completion and attains perfection in us, and we can have full confidence, because as He is, so are we in this world! This is the love that casts out all fear and purifies our faith to receive every promise from His Word. We experience empowered freedom by loving and obeying God, who first loved us. He expects us to love others fuelled by the love we receive from Him.
When we choose to consistently acknowledge and thank God for His full and perfect love for us, the Holy Spirit will cause us to become increasingly aware of Love’s presence and power in us. As a result, demonstrating that love to others will become the most natural thing to do. This is the love that reflects God’s true nature through us, attracting the lost, and causing them to become hungry and desperate to know Him intimately too.
