We cannot expect to do the same works Jesus did with less than what He had! It was the empowerment of the Holy Spirit that enabled Him to do the works of His Father. After He was baptized in water, the Holy Spirit descended upon Jesus, like a dove. From that moment He was full of and controlled by the Holy Spirit Who led Him into the wilderness for 40 days (Luke 4:1).
Jesus spent this time fasting and praying. The Bible says that Jesus entered the wilderness full of and controlled by the Holy Spirit and then it says He left it, being full of power! (Luke 4:14). His time of intense prayer energised the power that was within Him to not only stand up to and resist the devil’s temptation, but to do the miraculous works of God! From this point we read about the many signs, wonders and miracles that took place through that power in Him.
That same power filled those waiting in the upper room on the day of Pentecost. They were able to do the works of God with such power that the whole world was shaken by it! The same Spirit Who filled and empowered Jesus and the early Believers, has been given, as a gift from God, to us today! Open your heart to receive a fresh infilling of His power, by faith, right now. Be obedient to His leading and you will find yourself counted as those who do great exploits for His kingdom!
