Faith is the tangible substance of the Word of God we choose to believe before we see it in the natural. That’s why God is so impressed by our faith – it’s really the best way we can prove to Him that we believe and trust His Word on a matter, before we physically see it. The life of the spirit is based on the currency of faith. Just as we believed the Word for our eternal salvation, we believe what it says about our identity in Christ. None of these foundational truths become our reality without faith. Romans 10:9 teaches us that faith is in the heart, and is expressed through our words. Scripture also teaches us that the source of faith is the Word of God (Romans 10:17). If our hearts are filled with things that are not in line with the truth of God’s Word – faith will not grow in us, and it will certainly not be carried out in our conversations either. That’s because it’s from the abundance of the heart that the mouth speaks (Luke 6:45). If we are not speaking the Word of God that we believe in our hearts, we are not speaking faith. As a result, we will never walk in the reality of the promises the Word says we can have as children of God. Choose to fill your heart with the truth of God’s Word so faith can grow and be carried on your words – making every unseen promise your physical reality!
