Fix Your Attention on the Word

Did you know that both faith and unbelief are connected to what we place our attention on? Whatever we place our focus on is what we become aware of and that is exactly what will become a reality in our lives. The Word of God tells us that through the finished work of the cross, the power of sin and death has been destroyed over our lives. We have been given everything needed to live in victory, blessing, healing, peace, righteousness, and joy in the Holy Ghost – because we are in Christ Jesus!  According to Philemon 1:6, as we begin to acknowledge these things, our faith becomes effective to receive them. The bottom line here is to be disciplined in what we place our attention on, because that’s going to determine what we are going to receive in this life. The greater our attention is on the Word of God and its power to produce, the greater its flow is going to be into our lives. Just the same, the greater our attention is on our circumstances, symptoms, or negative reports – the greater that flow is going to be in our lives. Which is why we must become skilled to turn our attention off of our circumstances, and onto what God’s Word says. We must practice to ignore anything that distracts us from God and His Word. This is what the verse in Proverbs means when it says to give consent to the Word. We give consent to its truth when we agree with it above every other opposing thought, attitude or feeling. When we do this, it’s easy to submit to the Word.  The Word we agree with, believe, and give our full attention to is the Word we submit to! James 4:7 tells us to submit to God, resist the devil, and he and every opposition will flee from us! As we fix our attention on God and His Word today, we will begin to walk in the manifestation of all He has promised us.
