Follow Him

Psalms 23 paints a beautiful description of the Lord as our Good Shepherd. Have you ever taken time to contemplate a shepherds duties? There are certain responsibilities he will never abdicate from fulfilling. He feeds, guides and shields his flock. He always takes care of them, keeping them well-fed, groomed and sheltered. The shepherd constantly keeps his eyes alerted to anything that would harm his sheep, ensuring no threat comes near them before passing through him first (John 10:7-13). He always leads them out of where they are into a place of provision and safety, always going before them (John 10:3-4). A good shepherd knows his sheep and they know him, recognising His voice and following him because they trust him.  It’s a well placed trust, because he is willing to lay down his life for them (John 10:14-15). Jesus is our Good Shepherd. He identifies Himself as having all these characteristics. He will always take care of our needs, physically, emotionally, financially and spiritually. He will forever provide, protect and promote those who choose to draw near to Him, learn from Him, and abide in Him. We will never be ashamed for placing our full trust in Jesus (Romans 10:11).  Draw near to Him today, listen to His voice and follow Him wherever He leads you.
