When Gideon had to come against the overwhelmingly fearsome Midianite army and their allies, his men were not fully trained – nor highly skilled – for battle. Even though he had gathered 32,000 troops, it was not going to be enough to guarantee success on the battlefield. What happened next reduced their chances for victory even more. After following the Lord’s selection instructions, the number of Gideon’s men withered to a mere 300. In the natural, their likelihood of survival, let alone triumph, went from slim to impossible…Which provides the perfect environment for God to prove His delivering power. When God fights for you, no man can stand against you and prevail. God gave Gideon a simple, yet highly effective strategy which, when followed through with precise obedience, gave them an overwhelming victory. Be encouraged and know that whatever seems impossible today, under the Lord’s hand and guidance will be the greatest display of deliverance and victory you can dare to imagine.
