God’s Grace

The Jewish priests of Jesus’ day loved to read this passage Jesus referred to from Isaiah 61:1-2. They placed the focus on the latter part of the verse that promised God’s destruction of their enemy. They believed the Messiah would conquer their Roman oppressors and set their nation free. However, the enemy Jesus came to set us free from was the devil. We no longer have to be bound by his oppressive rule or be subject to his torment. Sickness, lack and the misery that comes from the bondage of sin no longer have to be a part of our lives, because of the finished work of the cross. God’s grace has made a way for us to be free and live in the fullness of His abundant blessing. If we choose to cling to, rely on, and follow after Him with our whole hearts, that grace will empower us to remain free and live the life Jesus paid for us to enjoy. Today you can decide to walk in that freedom – choose grace and live!
